This qualification will focus on the knowledge and understanding to work with individuals with learning disabilities or difficulties. You will learn the principles of safeguarding and positive risk taking, and gain awareness of the autistic spectrum.

The objectives of this qualification are to prepare learners for employment and to support a role in the workplace where the individual may work or interact with people with learning disabilities.

This is primarily designed for those working within healthcare and social care, but may also be useful to those working in education or housing support roles with an interest in, or who are already working with, individuals with learning disabilities.

 

Course duration: 170 hours of study, flexible around you

(e.g. Approximately 11 weeks, based on 15 hours of study per week)

 

Modules

To be awarded the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Difficulties, learners are required to successfully complete six mandatory units:

  • Unit 1: Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Unit 2: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Unit 3: Introduction to personalisation in social care
  • Unit 4: Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities
  • Unit 5: Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions
  • Unit 6: Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements to enrol on this course, however, learners should have a minimum of Level 1 English and Maths understanding.

Assessment

Each unit is followed by a group of assessment questions, designed to test your knowledge of the material you have been studying.

Once you have completed each unit assessment, you will submit them to your tutor for marking.

Your tutor may highlight areas where you need a little more information to ensure you fully understand each area in order to pass the unit.

Progression

After successfully completing this course, you will gain the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Difficulties.

Achievement of this qualification will help support progression onto further education, and into a variety of job roles and occupational areas within the health and social care sector.
