TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism (RQF)

 

This qualification will focus on the knowledge and understanding of autism.

 

Course duration: 230 hours of study, flexible around you

(e.g. Approximately 15 weeks, based on 15 hours of study per week)

 

What topics does the qualification cover?

  • How to adopt a positive approach to supporting individuals with autism
  • The current legislative framework relating to individuals with autism and how different theories have developed over time
  • How to support and manage transitions for individuals with autism
  • The range of therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions
  • How to support communication and social interaction for individuals with autism
  • How to develop an understanding of how individuals with autism may be vulnerable and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding according to legislative requirements

 

This qualification will allow progression onto further education, and into a variety of job roles and occupational areas within the health and social care sector.

Modules

To be awarded the TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism (RQF), learners are required to successfully complete six mandatory units:

  • Unit 1: Autism in context
  • Unit 2: Positive behavioural support for individuals with autism
  • Unit 3: Understand support and management of transitions for individuals with autism
  • Unit 4: Therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occuring conditions
  • Unit 5: Communication and social interaction with individuals with autism
  • Unit 6: Safeguarding and resilience in autism 

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements to enrol on this course, however, learners should have a minimum of Level 1 English and Maths understanding; and may find it helpful if they have already achieved a Level 2 qualification in a related subject.

Assessment

Each unit is followed by a group of assessment questions, designed to test your knowledge of the material you have been studying.

Once you have completed each unit assessment, you will submit them to your tutor for marking.

Your tutor may highlight areas where you need a little more information to ensure you fully understand each area in order to pass the unit.

Progression

Achievement of this qualification will help support progression onto further education, and into a variety of job roles and occupational areas within the health and social care sector.

Funding Methods Available

You can get this Level 3 qualification fully funded, if you:

  • are 19 or over and do not already have a Level 3 qualification
  • already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the National Living Wage annually (£18,525 from April 2022)
  • already have a Level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed

In some areas, there may be a slightly different low wage threshold.

National Skills Fund

If you are aged 19 to 23, you may be eligible for AEB funding if this is your full Level 3 qualification, provided you meet the following requirements:

  • Ensure that you have not already completed the course you wish to enrol on.
  • Must be a UK National; You must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years OR be able to prove your residency status, for example, Indefinite leave to remain, settled status or you are an Asylum seeker who has been in the UK for more than 6 months.
